Salary increases for government employees by 25% –  Balochistan Budget

It has been announced that all Balochistan government employees will receive a 25% salary increase following the passage of the budget for Fiscal Year 2024–25 by the parliament. After the Assembly approved the budget, the Balochstan finance minister, Shoaib Ahmed Nosherwani, announced.

His speech makes it clear that government employees in grades 1 to 16 will receive a 25% salary increase, and those in grades 17 to 22 will receive a 20% salary increase.

Delay in Balochistan Budget 

When the budget for the fiscal year 2024–25 is presented, all eyes are set on the Balochistan Assembly. After a slight delay, provincial finance minister Mir Shoaib Nausherwani is presenting the budget.

Quetta, the provincial capital, had a meeting of the provincial government earlier. The proposed non-developmental budget is Rs 600 billion and the development budget is Rs 250 billion.

Some Important Announcements Made At Balochistan Budget Speech

In addition to a salary raise, the Balochistan Finance Minister mentioned several specific reforms that would be implemented soon as well. His speech included allocations of the province’s budget for various government and public sector initiatives aimed at boosting the region’s economy.

The budget for the health and education sectors is as follows:

There will be significant funds allocated to the health and education sectors; more than Rs 67 billion is earmarked for health projects, while Rs 120 billion may be allocated for educational reforms. A further Rs70 billion will be set aside for peace and security measures, emphasizing the province’s commitment to improving security and stability.

A total of Rs 2 billion has been allocated for the Benazir Scholarship Program

Additionally, the finance minister made a few announcements regarding the Benazir Income Support Program in his Budget Speech. As part of the Balochistan budget, 2 billion rupees will be allocated to the Benazir Scholarship program, while 5 billion rupees would be allocated to university grants.

Balochistan to receive Rs647B from NFC Award, Rs60B from PPL for budget 2024-25

As part of the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, they anticipate receiving Rs647 billion as a vital cash flow for the region. Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) is also expected to provide Rs60 billion for local development initiatives in Balochistan.

As part of the budget approval process, government and opposition members will engage in discussions and deliberations.
