At a meeting of the Energy Department in Lahore on July 8, 2024, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif gave a green light to the “Roshan Gharana” initiative in principle and instructed the relevant authorities to provide solar panels to consumers using up to 500 watts of electricity.
She announced during the meeting that the government would provide a free solar system to families that consume 50 to 500 units of electricity. In these installments, the government of Punjab will pay 90% of the payments, while the consumers will have to pay the remaining 10%.
Registration For Rosan Gharana Scheme To Be Started Soon
During Tuesday’s cabinet meeting, the chief minister authorized the “Roshan Gharana” program, which aims to provide solar panels to the public.
During the meeting, she officially gave her approval for the Roshan Gharana Scheme to be implemented in Punjab. The decision was made after taking into consideration the exorbitant energy costs in the region. To alleviate the burden on its residents, she announced that the scheme will launch in July. Under this program, residents will have the option to pay for solar panels in manageable installments over a period of five years. Maryam Nawaz announced that residents of the area can pay for their solar panels in five easy installments, with the government covering 90% of the cost and the people covering the remaining 10%.
The government will be the only source of solar panel installments in the winter. “The ratio of government electricity to solar electricity will be determined based on the needs of users,” she said.
A high-level security meeting is chaired by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif
A meeting of the provincial Apex Committee was chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, among other senior government, intelligence, and military officials, including the Commander of the Lahore Corps, the Chief Secretary of Punjab, and the Inspector General of Police Punjab. Following the revised National Action Plan, the committee reviewed the current security situation in Punjab and discussed ways to improve public safety and national security.
